The newly constructed terminal at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati has officially started commercial operations from 22 February 2026, marking a major enhancement in the region’s aviation infrastructure.

The ₹4,000-crore Integrated Terminal-2 building, inaugurated by the Prime Minister last December, will significantly expand the airport’s capacity, allowing it to handle up to 13.1 million passengers annually and offer improved facilities for travellers.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma welcomed the first flights and passengers at the new terminal, highlighting the project as a key milestone for Assam’s connectivity and growth.

Officials expect that both domestic and international flights will soon operate from the upgraded facility, with the existing terminal being converted into a cargo hub to streamline operations further.

The modern design of the terminal combines functionality with features inspired by local culture, and the expanded infrastructure is aimed at improving travel comfort, reducing congestion, and enhancing the airport’s role as a gateway to the Northeast.
