Festive shopping for Holi is set to deliver a major boost to India’s retail sector this year. The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has projected that nationwide business during the festival could exceed ₹80,000 crore, marking a significant rise compared to last year’s estimated ₹60,000 crore turnover.
CAIT Secretary General and BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal stated that the expected figures indicate nearly 25 percent growth, reflecting strong consumer demand and vibrant market activity. He noted that the increasing preference for domestically manufactured goods, encouraged by the government’s “Vocal for Local” initiative, has contributed to the surge in sales of Indian products during the festival season.
In the national capital, festive trade alone is anticipated to cross ₹15,000 crore, with markets reporting large crowds and enthusiastic buying. Traders across major cities are optimistic that robust footfall and higher spending will make this Holi one of the most profitable in recent years.
